Whole Wheat Flour Empty
PostSubject: Whole Wheat Flour   Whole Wheat Flour EmptyWed Nov 16, 2011 8:58 pm

So I thought I would construct a quick, easy, healthy fish stew....using a can of corn in addition to other ingredients to make my daughter excited about the meal. It called for a Roux. I'm all about a Roux!! All I had was whole wheat flour....how bad could it be?....

I made a whole wheat flour Roux and cooked my carefully chopped onions, peppers, and garlic in it. No problem. I added my other ingredients and watched a nicely thickened stew start to transform....until I TASTED it. EWWWWW! Can you say "Nasty A$$?"

That putrid, vile whole wheat flour ruined my dish. NEVER EVER use whole wheat flour when a recipe call for a Roux. I tried every creation imaginable to make that stew edible, and it was ruined with whole wheat flour!

Whole Wheat flour has its' place, but not in a Roux, or Stew.

What a kitchen mishap. Learn!
